MENLO PARK, Calif., June 8 (UPI) -- Facebook announced the launch of its own app store Thursday, with a collection of free social apps for the Web as well as Android and iOS mobile platforms.

At its opening Facebook's App Center features around 600 apps, including apps such as Nike+ GPS, Pinterest and Draw Something, Web apps and many popular games for Android, iPhone and iPad owners, techspot.com reported.

"The App Center gives you personalized recommendations, and lets you browse the apps your friends use," Matt Wydnowe, Facebook's product manager for apps and games, said.

The move comes as Facebook hopes to capitalize on the increasing number of users accessing the popular social network with mobile devices, but Wall Street seemed unimpressed, as Facebook shares fell 1.79 percent to $26.33 at the end of trading Thursday.

U.S. Facebook users will get access to the App Center first with the rest of the world to follow, techspot.com reported.
