Drive-in slaying suspect tossed $10,000

ATLANTA, June 6 (UPI) -- Police say a man fled an Atlanta drive-in movie after allegedly fatally shooting a man who unwittingly interrupted his amorous interlude with a girlfriend.

An investigator, DeKalb County Detective Ricardo Harris, testified at a probable cause hearing Tuesday that Quentric Shaymond Williams, 28, threw nearly $10,000 cash out of his truck after having shot Mitt Lenix at the Starlight Drive-in May 15. Williams was arrested days later at a hotel near Duluth, Ga., The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

At Williams' hearing, Harris, who was working off-duty at the outdoor theater at the time of the shooting, testified Williams was carrying at least $20,000 in cash and three handguns. He said Williams' girlfriend, Angel Thomas, told investigators "they were watching a movie, and the movie was boring, so they were going to have sex. Then Williams said somebody was coming."

That's when Lenix approached the car to ask for help because the battery in his own car had died. Thomas said Williams allegedly "reached and got a gun from somewhere" and fired at Lenix out of the driver's side window. A witness heard one shot and saw Lenix collapse, shortly before Williams' truck sped off.

Thomas said Williams gave $9,880 in cash and threw more out the window. He then allegedly crashed the rented truck and fled on foot, leaving her in the car along with the murder weapon.

Upon reaching the hotel near Duluth, Williams went to an urgent care clinic to treat his hand, which he injured in the crash. Police arrested him the next day.

Investigators said Williams has served two state prison terms for drug-related charges.
