DETROIT, May 30 (UPI) -- Charges were dropped Wednesday against a Michigan man accused of the deaths of four women, three of whom were connected to an escort Web site, police said.

Police said James Brown, 24, of Sterling Heights, will be recharged Friday in Macomb County, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Brown's case was being handled in Detroit's 36th District Court, but Sterling Heights Police Lt. Luke Riley told the Free Press it appears the crimes took place in Sterling Heights.

Brown faces disinterment charges associated with the deaths of Demesha Hunt, 25, and Renisha Landers, 24, whose bodies were found in the trunk of a car Dec. 19 in Detroit.

He also faces disinterment and arson charges in the deaths of Natasha Curtis, 29, and Vernithea McCrary, 28, whose bodies were found in a burned-out vehicle Dec. 25 in Detroit.

Three of the victims were connected to Backpage.com, which features classified ads for escorts, the newspaper reported.
