ST. CLOUD, Minn., May 20 (UPI) -- U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, garnered 32 delegates in Minnesota to support him at the Republican National Convention in August, his campaign said.
Paul supporters nabbed 12 of the 13 seats still at large Saturday, making 32 out of 40 Republican delegates in the state who support Paul for president.
"We are happy that the liberty candidates have integrated with the Republican Party," said Marianne Stebbins, head of the Paul campaign in Minnesota.
Paul said May 14 he would stop actively campaigning for the Republican presidential nomination.
MinnPost.com reported on the second day of the Minnesota Republican Convention in St. Cloud , the Paul campaign celebrated the gain despite warnings by Paul opponents the Libertarian-leaning Paul's campaign will undermine the Republican president campaign.
Republican activist John Gilmore handed out fliers Saturday warning delegates of the "convention chaos slate," offering a list of candidates -- mostly Paul supporters -- who will "embarrass Minnesota."
