PETALUMA, Calif., May 14 (UPI) -- A California father was arrested after allegedly driving 104 mph with two 9-year-old children in the car, police say.

Juan Carlos Gallegos, 41, was bringing the boys to a soccer game when he was pulled over Saturday, The Press Democrat (Santa Rosa, Calif.) reported.

Officer Ron Klein said he was monitoring speeds on Route 116 when he saw Gallegos' Nissan Altima approach at a high speed. The car was clocked at driving 104 mph.

Gallegos also veered into oncoming traffic to pass vehicles, Klein said, adding that it took him almost three miles to catch up with Gallegos.

Gallegos was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving and child endangerment and booked into Sonoma County Jail. His bail was set at $15,000 and his car was impounded for 30 days.
