TALLAHASSEE, Fla., May 14 (UPI) -- Florida A&M University chose Monday to suspend its marching band for for one more year as a result of the hazing-related death of a band member.

University President James Ammons barred the Marching 100 band from performing through the 2012-13 school year. Florida Gov. Rick Scott agreed with Ammons' decision.

Earlier this month, 11 band members were charged in the death of Robert Champion, who was beaten aboard a parked charter bus on Nov. 19 following a football game in Orlando.

In the months since Champion's death, other allegations of hazing have been brought to light, the Orlando Sentinel reported. An administrative investigation discovered recently about 100 members did not actually meet the requirements to be in the band, two of whom were charged in Champion's death.

Several faculty members have resigned since Champion's death, including two who were recently discovered to have hosted a party where some band members were hazed.
