Juror doubts Goodman guilt after trial

PALM BEACH, Fla., May 1 (UPI) -- One member of the jury that convicted Florida polo mogul John Goodman of DUI manslaughter now says he was unconvinced of Goodman's guilt.

In response to allegations of juror misconduct, Judge Jeffrey Colbath held a hearing to interview the six jurors and two alternates regarding Goodman's conviction in March. When he asked whether jurors felt threatened to come to a verdict, The Palm Beach (Fla.) Post reported juror Michael St. John was the only one to say yes.

"So when I asked you at the end of the case whether the verdict was your verdict, and you looked at me and said yes, why did you say that?" Colbath asked St. John.

"I didn't look at anyone," St. John replied. "I didn't look at him, I didn't look at any of the other jurors. I just looked at the floor when you asked me."

Goodman was convicted last month of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide after his car slammed into the vehicle of 23-year-old Scott Wilson, pushing it into a canal in Wellington, Fla. in Feb. 2010. Goodman's sentencing hearing has been set for May 11. He could face up to 30 years in prison.
