GREENSBORO, N.C., April 28 (UPI) -- Cheri Young, who testified at former U.S. Sen. John Edwards' trial after her husband, told jurors Andrew Young's job put a strain on their marriage.
Young, 38, began her testimony in Greensboro, N.C., about 30 minutes before the trial ended for the day Friday, The Charlotte Observer reported. She said she did routine chores for Edwards such as baby-sitting, food shopping and even helping Elizabeth Edwards' niece pick out curtains, while her husband, Andrew, was never available at home.
"He did anything and everything for every member of their family," Cheri Young told the jury. "Over the years, it became completely maddening for me."
Edwards, D-N.C., who spent one term in the Senate, ran for president in 2004 and 2008 and was U.S. Sen. John Kerry's running mate in 2004, is charged with using campaign contributions to cover up his affair with Rielle Hunter, the mother of his illegitimate daughter.
Cheri Young is expected to resume her testimony. Andrew Young, who testified under a grant of immunity, testified for 20 hours about his relationship with Edwards and Hunter, who lived with him and his wife for some time.
