SAN DIEGO, April 24 (UPI) -- Two San Diego women were ordered to stand trial on manslaughter charges in the death of a neighbor who had been attacked by their pit bulls.
Alba Cornelio, 40, and her daughter, Carla Cornelio, 20, were bound over in San Diego Superior Court for trial on charges of involuntary manslaughter and a felony charge of owning mischievous animals.
The defendants were charged in connection with the death of Emako Mendoza, 75, who was seriously injured when the dogs squeezed through a gap in a fence and attacked her in her yard.
Mendoza underwent eight surgeries, including the amputation of her arm, before she died on Christmas Eve, The San Diego Union-Tribune said.
