PHOENIX, April 24 (UPI) -- Phoenix police said two men were shot dead Tuesday in a confrontation that apparently involved a stalker.

A police officer shot one of the victims moments after the victim had allegedly shot another man during a scuffle on a street on the city's north side.

Police told the Arizona Republic the officer had been dispatched to the scene in response to a stalking call. The officer was not injured.

The exact circumstances of the shootings was not known, but a resident of the neighborhood told the Republic the area was usually very quiet.
