DELAND, Fla., April 19 (UPI) -- An Arkansas man has been charged with raping a Florida woman in 1995 when he was 17, the Volusia County Sheriff's Department says.

Witar Luangamat, 34, is being held without bail in the Benton County Jail in Arkansas pending extradition proceedings, The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.

He was arrested Tuesday.

Luangamat's fingerprints matched those found in the home of a Deltona Beach woman who was sexually assaulted by someone who broke in, Gary Davidson, a spokesman for the sheriff's office, said. The match was discovered when investigators took a new look at cases where fingerprints were on file that had never been identified.

The woman, who was 29 at the time, told investigators she woke to find someone on top of her. She said the rapist had his face covered but was otherwise naked.

The man held her in a choke hold and later covered her face with a pillow to stop her struggling. She said he also threatened to hurt her 10-month-old child.

Once he was through, the man grabbed her purse and some other items and left the house dressed only in tennis shoes.
