Congress approval rating at 17 percent

WASHINGTON, April 19 (UPI) -- Americans' approval rating of the U.S. Congress is 17 percent, slightly recovering from its record 10 percent low, a Gallup poll shows.

Gallup's monthly poll of Americans' views of Congress, released Thursday, also found Congress' disapproval rating is 79 percent, down from a record 86 percent in December.

Congress' approval rating went up with both Democrats and Republicans, from 12 to 19 percent and 12 to 18 percent, respectively.

The poll, conducted April 9-12, questioned 1,016 adults, aged 18 and older, nationwide. It had a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
