LOS ANGELES, April 18 (UPI) -- Ex-MLB all-star Lenny Dykstra pleaded no contest Wednesday in Los Angeles to charges he exposed himself to women, once at knifepoint, officials said.
As part of a plea bargain, Dykstra, 49, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor counts of lewd conduct and assault with a deadly weapon against women answering online ads for housekeepers, the Los Angeles Times reported. Authorities said the plea bargain agreement forbids Dykstra from posting or soliciting on social networking sites, including Craigslist, for three years, and prosecutors said he will be sentenced to nine months in jail.
Prosecutors said Dykstra used a fake name to place ads on Craigslist for a personal assistant or housekeeping services, and that a half dozen women responded to ads between 2009 and 2011. When his victims met Dykstra, he played up his baseball career and told applicants the job required them to give him a massage -- at which point he exposed himself.
Deputy City Attorney Lara D. Schwartz said during one encounter in July 2010, Dykstra forced a victim at knifepoint to give him a massage.
Dykstra, who hit .285 for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies from 1985 to 1996, was sentenced in Los Angeles March 5 to three years in state prison for trying to defraud car dealers.
