Motorcycle cop hurt on Obama duty

TAMPA, Fla., April 13 (UPI) -- A police officer was injured Friday afternoon when he was thrown from his motorcycle while escorting President Obama to the Port of Tampa in Florida.

The accident occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. when the president's motorcade approached a large speed bump, the newspaper said.

Hillsborough County Deputy Chad Keen, 37, struck the pavement, sustaining abrasions and a possible dislocated shoulder, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

A pool reporter assigned to the president said the officer clutched his leg while sitting in the grass with other officers nearby.

Keen was taken to a local hospital and the motorcade continued on to its destination without stopping.
