'Big Bang Theory' finale will feature major cliffhanger
FORT HOOD, Texas, April 11 (UPI) -- Lawyers for an Army psychiatrist charged with killing 13 people at Fort Hood in Texas have asked a judge to postpone the trial, saying they need more time.
Maj. Nidal Hasan's lawyers said there are 242 witnesses scheduled to testify, the Austin American-Statesman reported. They told Col. Gregory Gross, the military judge expected to preside at the court-martial, that prosecutors have withheld some important documents from them and they still have almost 90,000 pages to process.
Hasan faces 13 counts of first-degree murder and 32 of attempted murder. He allegedly targeted soldiers who were about to leave for Afghanistan in a 2009 shooting rampage.
The trial was originally scheduled to begin March 5 and was moved to June after a previous request for delay. Defense lawyers now say October is the earliest they can be prepared.
Gross did not decide on the motion Tuesday.
