Two churches spray-painted before Easter

SEATTLE, April 9 (UPI) -- Two Seattle churches were the target of vandals over Easter weekend, who defaced the churches with red spray-paint, officials said.

Although mass was not disrupted at St. James Cathedral, many worshipers were upset when they arrived for service Sunday, KOMO-TV, Seattle, reported.

"It's so beautiful here at St. James Cathedral, and it's just the wrong thing to do," said Grant Simpson, who attends St. James.

"I just feel so bad about it, especially on this holiday," said Melba Juan, who also attends St. James.

Larry Brouse, an administrator at St. James, said the graffiti was not what was important on Easter Sunday.

"What's happening inside is important -- that we're celebrating Easter," he said.

Members at Mars Hill Church discovered graffiti urging people not to worship there Saturday, the news report said. They cleaned messages saying the church is "anti-woman" before Sunday.
