Also, Obama's rating in Gallup's three-day rolling averages in April rose again, including his first rating of 50 percent in nearly a year on Friday.
Gallup said Obama hasn't averaged 50 percent approval for a full month since last May following the death of Osama bin Laden. Before that, it was February 2010.
Gallup said most Democrats and liberals approve of Obama's job performance, as do a slight majority of moderates. His approval rating ranges from 86 percent among liberal Democrats to 8 percent among conservative Republicans, with 33 percent of independents indicating their approval.
Results are based on nationwide telephone interviews of 16,037 adults conducted as part of Gallup Daily tracking March 1-31. The margin of error is 1 percentage point.
