ANNAPOLIS, Md., April 3 (UPI) -- Mitt Romney emerged victorious in Maryland's Republican presidential primary Tuesday night, results showed.
CNN said with 59 percent of the precincts counted it had determined the former Massachusetts governor would claim a majority of the 37 delegates at stake in Maryland.

The results posted by the network gave Romney 48 percent to 30 percent for former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, 11 percent for former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia and 10 percent for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas.
Romney also picked up wins in Wisconsin and the District of Columbia Tuesday, putting him past the halfway mark to the 1,144 delegates needed to win the GOP nomination.
