DENVER, March 31 (UPI) -- Human remains were found Saturday afternoon in the ruins of a home burned down by the Lower North Fork fire in Colorado, authorities said.
While tests were to be done to confirm the victim's identity, the search for Ann Appel, 51, had been suspended, The Denver Post reported. A Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said it was expected to be several days before test results come back on the "human artifacts."
Appel was reported missing after the blaze hit the area Monday.
Two others -- Samuel Lucas, 77, and his wife Linda, 76 -- have been confirmed to have died in the wildfire.
The Post said the fire was 90 percent contained by 4 p.m. More than 500 firefighters have been deployed.
About 180 homes were still evacuated and the fire had scorched about 4,140 acres.
