PHILADELPHIA, March 31 (UPI) -- A police pursuit in Philadelphia ended Friday night in a crash that killed an innocent man, investigators said.
A suspect tried to escape on foot after hitting two other vehicles, WCAU-TV, Philadelphia, reported. He was quickly arrested.
Police said the chase began after a man allegedly pulled a gun on officers in the Hunting Park neighborhood and then drove away. Police cars and a helicopter followed him south on Broad Street, the north-south artery that cuts through the heart of the city.
A man in one of the vehicles the suspect struck was killed. A woman and small child who were with him were injured in the crash, police said.
The toddler was reported in stable condition at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
