Undocumented Obama kin surrenders license

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., March 27 (UPI) -- President Obama's undocumented immigrant uncle has admitted to sufficient facts in his Massachusetts drunken driving case and agreed to surrender his license.

A Framingham District Court judge ordered Onyango Obama, the half-brother of the president's father, to relinquish his license for 45 days, the Boston Herald reported.

The 67-year-old had been aggressively battling authorities regarding his Aug. 24 drunk driving arrest, but his lawyer said it was time for Onyango Obama to move on.

"After a thorough review, we felt it was in his interests to end the matter without any further proceedings. He's glad to have this behind him," attorney P. Scott Bratton said.

Onyango Obama, who works as a liquor store clerk, entered the United States illegally from Kenya and has defied a deportation order for nearly two decades, the newspaper said.

Bratton said Onyango's deportation proceedings revolved around failure to "renew immigration paperwork," which he expects to be resolved.
