Bus crash kills 9-year-old Florida boy

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla., March 27 (UPI) -- The death of a 9-year-old boy in a bus crash put a Fort Pierce, Fla., elementary school into mourning Tuesday.

Grief counselors were on had at Frances K. Sweet Elementary School following the accident that killed Aaron Beauchamp about 3:50 p.m. Monday. A bus carrying 30 students collided with a semitrailer while trying to turn on a Port St. Lucie road. The bus spun just before crashing, flipping the semi-trailer rig.

Beauchamp was found dead inside the bus, and 16 of his classmates were hospitalized for injuries. The driver was uninjured.

TCPalm.com reported investigators were reviewing camera footage from aboard the bus to see whether or not children were using seat belts.
