NEW YORK, March 22 (UPI) -- A building collapsed in New York City's Harlem neighborhood Thursday, killing one and injuring two, police said.

The one-story building was being demolished by workers at the time of the collapse, the New York Post reported.

One worker was crushed to death, while the other two were injured and are in stable condition, police said.

The demolition project was part of Columbia University's expansion plan, the New York Daily News reported.

It was not immediately clear what caused the collapse.
