SAN MARCOS, Calif., March 22 (UPI) -- An elderly California man was arrested on suspicion of assisting in his wife's suicide, officials said.
Alan Purdy, 88, was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of aiding in his wife's suicide, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Purdy's south San Marcos home Tuesday morning after receiving a report about a death, homicide Lt. Larry Nest said.
Margaret Purdy, 84, was found at the scene, dead of asphyxia, with a bag over her head, the Medical Examiner's Office said.
Alan Purdy, a long-time pilot, posted bail and has a tentative arraignment hearing scheduled for March 28 at Vista Superior Court, should he be charged.
