The 22-year-old undercover officer, known to students as fellow student "Johnny Ramirez," had made several purchases of marijuana, cocaine, prescription drugs and other narcotics, Exeter police said.

"We made the campus safer today. And for those who think they got away with something, I hope they rethink their behavior," Exeter Police Chief Cliff Bush said.

Eight of the students arrested are from Exeter Union and three from Kaweah Continuation High School, while one of those arrested had recently graduated.

One of the students is 19, three 18 and eight are juveniles. They were held on suspicion of selling drugs within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy and accessory.

Police were still searching for an 18-year-old student.
