Child kidnapped as baby in 2004 found

HOUSTON, March 14 (UPI) -- A boy kidnapped in Texas eight years ago when he was 8 months old has been found alive and his mother says she can't wait to be reunited with him.

KSAT-TV, San Antonio, reported Wednesday Krystle Rochelle Tanner -- who had been Miguel Morin's godmother and was to have watched him for one night in November 2004 when they disappeared -- was arrested this week and jailed without bond on a kidnapping charge.

St. Augustine County Sheriff's Office investigators found Tanner after getting a phone call from hers sister, who said the boy was alive and living in Houston, the TV station said.

Houston police had spent two years on the case before closing it in 2006. Miguel's mother, Auboni Champion-Morin, said she never gave up hope she would see her son again alive.

"I prayed every night that he was safe, loved and he would come home one day," said Champion-Morin, who has to take a DNA test to prove she is his mother.

A Children's Protective Services spokeswoman said counseling and other services would be available to minimize the stress and confusion the reunion may bring.

"Right now, I'm just really anxious to see him, but I know there is a lot of legal stuff I have to do," Champion-Morin told KSAT-TV. "I want to hold him in my arms and let him know who I am. I hope he can feel the same thing I feel for him."
