LAS VEGAS, March 13 (UPI) -- A Las Vegas woman told police she killed her young daughter because the little girl may have been possessed by a demon, the arrest report said.

Details of the slaying of 6-year-old Kyla Franks made available to the media Tuesday said Danielle Slaughter, 27, told officer she could not believe she had killed her daughter but told detectives she had felt an "evil presence" around the child.

Slaughter was arrested Sunday night when she was seen running naked with blood on her hands about 2 miles from her home. Metro police received a 911 call a short time later from Slaughter's boyfriend who said he had come home from work and found Kyla stabbed to death with a pair of scissors.

KLAS-TV in Las Vegas said Slaughter said Kyla had been "laughing in an evil voice" and saying other things she took to be sinister as well. She called the stains on her hands the blood of the Lamb of God.

Slaughter also said she had started taking a diet supplement about the same time she began having trouble sleeping and felt an evil presence in her home. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration had issued a warning in 2009 urging consumer not to take the supplement, Hydroxycut, due to potential liver injury.
