Ohio lawmaker wants to end daylight saving

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 9 (UPI) -- An Ohio legislator proposed a bill Friday that would repeal daylight saving time in the state.

"It is time to retire this World War I-era antique" state Rep. Courtney Combs said, calling daylight saving time "a perfect example of a government policy far outliving its usefulness and continuing simply because that's the way it has always been done."

The bill would keep the state on standard time throughout the year, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

"Nowadays, all [daylight saving] does is inconvenience people twice a year," Combs said.

Hawaii and Arizona have already given up on daylight saving time.
