POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., March 6 (UPI) -- Investigators say a woman who kept about 200 cats in her house in upstate New York faces 41 counts of animal cruelty.

Anna Wurtzburger also had three dogs in her house in Hopewell Junction, a hamlet near Poughkeepsie in the Hudson Valley, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

Joyce Garrity, executive director of the Dutchess County Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals, said 47 cats were taken from Wurtzburger in February. The remaining cats and the dogs were taken away Saturday.

Wurtzburger, who pleaded not guilty, may face more charges, Garrity said.
