JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., March 6 (UPI) -- Missouri Democrats say a bust of conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh does not belong in the state Capitol with Harry Truman, Walt Disney and Mark Twain.

News that a Kansas City sculptor is working on a bust of the Missouri native became public Monday in the wake of the flap over Limbaugh's verbal trashing of a Georgetown University law student who testified in favor of having health insurance pay for contraception, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. E. Scott Schubert is also preparing a bust of Dred Scott, the fugitive slave, to be unveiled along with Limbaugh.

Limbaugh apologized Saturday for calling Sandra Fluke a "slut" and "prostitute."

"We are doing everything we can to stop this," said state Rep. Stacey Newman, a Democrat from the St. Louis suburb of Richmond Heights. "If it's something I have to lay down in front of, I will."

Steve Tilley, the Republican speaker of the Missouri House, says he selected Scott and Limbaugh and sees no reason to change. Choosing busts for the Capitol rotunda in Jefferson City is an informal perk of the speaker's office and proceeds from a golf tournament are used to pay for them.

"It's not the Hall of Universally Loved Missourians," Tilley said. "It's the Hall of Famous Missourians."
