OAKLAND, Calif., March 2 (UPI) -- A motorcyclist traveling at high speed died in Oakland, Calif., after he crashed his bike into a guardrail and plummeted from an overpass, officials said.

The California Highway Patrol said Jesse Boyer, 22, of El Cerrito, had a suspended license and had been involved in two other crashes since 2009, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Friday.

He was heading from northbound Interstate 880 to westbound Interstate 80 early Thursday when his 1994 Yamaha XT motorcycle slammed into a concrete guardrail. Boyer plunged to his death.

The highway patrol said callers had reported a motorcyclist in the area traveling at high speed, the newspaper said.
