Small plane crashes in New Mexico

BELEN, N.M., March 1 (UPI) -- A small plane crashed Thursday morning at the Belen, N.M., airport, south of Albuquerque, the Valencia County Sheriff reported.

The plane was landing when it struck a power line and crashed. At one point 120 homes in the area were without power, but electricity has since been restored to all but four commercial customers, the power company PNM said.

Belen police said the incident occurred near Rock Quarry Road, south of the airport.

The cause of the crash and the number of people aboard the plane were not immediately reported.
