Occupy Oakland march is peaceful

OAKLAND, Calif., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- For the third week since hundreds were arrested, Occupy Oakland protesters held a peaceful march and demonstration in California.

The march, to the Berkeley campus of the University of California, was to show solidarity with Occupy Cal members participating in a conference on media and transparency in information, called "Occupy the Truth," protest organizers said.

The march has become a weekly Saturday night event since several hundred people were arrested in January as they broke into Oakland City Hall and a nearby vacant building.

The Oakland Tribune reported Sunday the demonstration was peaceful, except for a flag-burning outside an Obama re-election office in Berkeley by a man protesting treatment of American Indians.
