Ex-teacher faces new sex assault charges

WOBURN, Mass., Feb. 8 (UPI) -- An ex-Boston-area teacher already being held on local and federal child-pornography charges was charged with sexually assaulting an underage girl he babysat.

David Ettlinger, 34, was ordered held on $50,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty Wednesday to the new charges, which include five counts of aggravated indecent assault and battery on a child under age 14, the Boston Herald reported.

Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone said the girl's parents had hired Ettlinger to babysit her. She was not one of his students at Underwood Elementary in Newton where he had taught 11 years before his January arrest.

Ettlinger was being held on $110,000 bail on the earlier charges after court appearances last month.

Suffolk County prosecutors said police found hundreds of images of child pornography on Ettlinger's home computer and dozens of young girls' underpants at his condominium during a Jan. 17 raid.

Prosecutors say he posed a friend's sleeping daughter in a sexually explicit way, then filmed her.
