Two injured in circus mishap

SAGINAW, Mich., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- A stunt driver and a Shriner were injured during the final Shrine Circus show in Saginaw, Mich., when a motorcycle stunt went terribly wrong, officials said.

Circus officials said Josh Headford was attempting to cross Wendler Arena during his performance Sunday when a guide wire sent Headford and his motocross bike 25 feet to the floor.

"He looked like he was going to do a flip or something, but he kept straight up and hit a wire," a circus-goer told WNEM-TV, Saginaw. "He came straight down and hit a clown on the way."

Headford broke his femur and Shriner Al Basner was hit in the face by a flying cable. Both were taken to a hospital and are expected to recover, the TV station reported.

"Everyone was in shock," circus director Craig Hatch said.
