WASHINGTON, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Vice President Xi Jinping, expected to become China's next leader, will visit the United States next month, the White House announced.

Xi, whose visit is at the invitation of Vice President Joe Biden, will meet with President Barack Obama at the White House Feb. 14, the announcement said.

His meetings with Obama, Biden and other senior administration officials will cover "a broad range of bilateral, regional, and global issues."

Xi will also travel to Iowa and California, the announcement said.

Biden visited China in August 2011.

Xi is set to take over as president and general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party after Hu Jintao steps down this year.
