Teen charged as adult in taped assault

CHICAGO, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- The father of one of seven Chicago teens accused of beating and robbing another teen says his son was retaliating for an earlier argument with the victim.

Raymond Palomino, 17, is the only one of the seven teenagers who will face charges as an adult for robbery and aggravated battery in the videotaped attack that has gone viral, the Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday.

The others -- two 16-year-old boys, three 15-year-old boys and a 15-year-old girl -- face juvenile delinquency charges for the Sunday attack.

Michael Palomino, Raymond's father, said his son is being "made out as the fall guy."

"He's the only one charged as an adult," Michael said. "They're making it sound like he did everything. It's just one side of the story."

Michael said the attack was in retaliation for an incident in December in which the victim and his friends allegedly attacked Raymond and another boy at school.

Raymond Palomino was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
