KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A former NASA employee is accused of killing her husband's mistress in suburban Kansas City, Mo., after he said he wanted a divorce, police said.

Shannon O'Rourk Griffin, 52, was arrested Friday near Wichita, Kan., by the Kansas Highway Patrol, WFAA, Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, reported.

Griffin is accused of shooting Irina Puscariu, 46, a psychiatrist, three times in the face. She then allegedly called her husband, Roscoe Griffin, to tell him what she had done.

Police said Puscariu's 86-year-old mother witnessed the shooting.

Shannon and Roscoe Griffin had moved to the Kansas City area from Granbury, Texas, about a year ago. Roscoe Griffin is a retired Air Force colonel and Shannon Griffin was a trainer for NASA, ABC News said.
