NEW YORK, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- U.S. comedian Stephen Colbert's super PAC issued its first attack ad Monday, calling Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney "Mitt the Ripper."

The attack ad focuses on the former Massachusetts governor's tenure at Bain Capital in advance of Saturday's South Carolina primary, The New York Times reported. The ad pokes fun at Romney's statement earlier in the campaign, declaring corporations are people.

"Mitt Romney claims to be pro-corporations. But would you let him date your daughter's corporation?" comedian Jon Stewart asked in releasing the ad, voiced by John Lithgow. Stewart took over control last week of Americans for a Better Tomorrow Tomorrow or The Definitely not Coordinating with Stephen Colbert Super PAC. Colbert turned over the super political action committee to Stewart last week in announcing he was considering a run for "president of the United States of South Carolina."

"Mitt Romney has a secret," Lithgow intones. "As head of Bain Capital, he bought companies, carved them up and got rid of what he couldn't use. …

"On Sat., Jan. 21, stop Mitt the Ripper before he kills again."

The Times said the ad parodies Republican rival Newt Gingrich's "Winning our Future" ads that attack the business model of buying up distressed companies and gutting them.
