SIDNEY, Mont., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- A suspect was arrested in the weekend disappearance of Sherry Arnold, a Montana teacher who vanished while jogging, investigators said Friday.
A second individual was picked up for questioning by the FBI and police in Sidney using information supplied by a tipster, the FBI office in Salt Lake City said in a written statement.
The names of the individuals in custody were not released nor were any details on what specifically implicated them in Arnold's disappearance last Saturday.
There was no official update on Arnold's whereabouts; however, The Billings (Mont.) Gazette said Friday her family members had been told she was dead.
"We just want some privacy and some time to process what has happened," Arnold's sister-in-law, Karen Arnold Trix, told the newspaper. "We appreciate everything that everyone did to help us in this search. We are so heartbroken that this is the outcome."
Arnold has not been seen since she disappeared while on her morning run. Hundreds of Sidney residents and scores of police scoured the area but did not locate her.
