Ohio church burned to the ground

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Columbus, Ohio, police investigated a fire that burned a Union County church to the ground early Tuesday, officials said.

A passerby called 911 at 3:52 a.m. to report the blaze, but when the fire crews arrived moments later, the church was already engulfed in flames.

Sheriff Jamie Patton told The Columbus Dispatch there were no injuries in the fire, but the building was destroyed. Police arrested a 30-year-old man found swinging on the church playground's swing set watching the building burn.

Authorities recovered a BMW sports car that had been driven into the north doors of the church.

The man in custody is not the car's owner. Police located the owner of the car and he had not been charged.
