The poll, conducted each year, asked citizens to choose whether they find themselves to be "suffering" or "thriving."
The most recent results indicate that 25 percent of Iraqis said they were suffering at the end of 2011, up from the previous two years.
Only 7 percent believed they were thriving near the end of 2011, a 7 percent drop from the beginning of the year.
The percentage of Iraqi citizens who said they were suffering in 2011 is among the highest in the Middle East and North Africa region, Gallup said.
