TUCSON, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., will attend a candlelight vigil Sunday to mark the anniversary of a shooting attack in which she was injured, her office said.

Giffords' office said the congresswoman will participate in the ceremony at University of Arizona in Tuscon with her husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly, The (Phoenix) Arizona Republic reported Thursday.

Giffords was hosting a constituent event outside of a grocery store Jan. 8, 2011, when a gunman shot her and 18 others, killing six. The defendant, Jared Loughner, is in federal custody.
