WASHINGTON, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Former Iowa Caucuses winner Mike Huckabee says he expects dark-horse Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul to do well in next month's vote.
Huckabee said on "Fox News Sunday" that Paul had fielded a solid organization for the 2012 vote in the Hawkeye State and could be better than front-runner Mitt Romney's forces.
The former Arkansas governor said he expected Romney to win; however, Paul could be formidable because his supporters appear to be more intense than Romney's.
"If the weather is good, Mitt Romney is in better shape," Huckabee predicted. "But if the weather is bad and it's real tough to get out, Ron Paul would win."
Huckabee added that another trailing candidate, Rick Santorum, could surprise the analysts and pundits on the strength of endorsements from evangelical leaders while Newt Gingrich had a good message but was being hammered by the rest of the field's campaign ads.
