LOS ANGELES, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- A woman allegedly made a false bomb threat to delay her husband's flight out of Los Angeles International Airport following a disagreement, the FBI said.
Johnna Woolfolk was charged Tuesday by the U.S. attorney's office in Los Angeles with providing false and misleading information for allegedly calling in a fake bomb threat, the Los Angeles Times reported.
"Making a threat to an airline is a serious offense and will be prosecuted," FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said. "The response to these hoaxes is a great expense to the government."
Court documents state Woolfolk called an AirTran Airways representative and said a man with a bomb was aboard a flight to Atlanta.
After FBI agents tracked her down, Woolfolk admitted her report was false and that she had recently had marital trouble with her husband. She later told agents she did not mean to harm anyone.
Woolfolk is expected to appear in federal court next week.
