ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama took a break Wednesday for some Christmas shopping for the first dog and his daughters.

Obama, who is delaying the family's yearly holiday vacation in Hawaii until the payroll tax dispute is sorted out, took Bo, his Portuguese water dog, to a Petsmart store at Potomac Yards in Alexandria, Va., across the river from Washington.

Bo took a liking to a small brown standard poodle visiting the store, but the president tightened his grip on the leash admonishing, "OK Bo, don't get too personal here." He spent $41 for two items for the dog, one a very large chew bone.

In addition to sniffing the poodle, named Cinnamon, Bo took an interest in some plush toys that were on sale.

The next stop was Best Buy, where the jacketless president with his sleeves rolled up headed to the Wii section and purchased the Just Dance 3 video game for daughters Malia and Sasha.

"The girls beat me every time on these dance games," he jokingly told reporters, "but you'll never get a picture of me (playing) because I get graded F every time."

He also picked up up two $50 iTunes gift cards using his personal credit card to charge the $194.48 bill.

Obama's motorcade then made a side trip to pickup three large pizzas and milkshakes at the Del Ray Pizzeria before heading back to the White House.
