Guilty plea in Mo. sex-torture case

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Bradley Cook pleaded guilty in a Kansas City courtroom Wednesday to sexually torturing a Missouri woman over a three-year period.

Cook entered the plea under an agreement with federal prosecutors that recommends 20 years in prison.

Cook, 33, was charged with repeatedly coercing the mentally disabled victim into brutal sexual-abuse sessions that he both participated in and watched between 2006 and 2009. Courthouse News said the abuse included being locked in a dog cage, whipped and shocked with electricity.

Cook, who is from suburban St. Louis, is the third defendant in the case to plead guilty.

He had also been facing charges of trying to hire someone to kill both the victim and the prosecutor in the case. That charge was dropped as part of the plea bargain and because proceeding would have required the prosecutor to step down from the case, Courthouse News said.
