WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said there's still time for a new fire starter to enter the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
"I don't think the field has to be considered set today -- set and locked up," the former GOP vice presidential candidate told Fox News during the weekend. "Even beyond Iowa I think there is time for more shakeup."
In October, Palin said she had decided against running for the party's nod.
She said she's concerned about the current crop of candidates.
"I don't feel the candidates grasping that and [articulating] solutions as to how we can meet the economic challenges in this country," she said. "That scares me."
GOP candidate New Gingrich agreed with Palin's view.
"I would not be surprised to see one or two more candidates between now and the end of April," he told Fox News. "The clock is running but the clock sure hasn't stopped."
