The plane crashed a half-mile south of the runway, at about 10 a.m., Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Scott McDonald told The Arizona Republic.
The plane, which crashed on its approach to the airport, was carrying two people, one of whom was killed, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said.
