TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Three male members of the Florida A&M University marching band were charged Monday with hazing for allegedly beating a female band member.
Bria Hunter said she was hit on her thighs so forcefully one of her bones was broken and she had bruises on her bones and blood clots, CNN reported. She did not get medical attention until Nov. 7, a week after she was allegedly beaten.
The famed band has come under scrutiny since the death in late November of Robert Champion, possibly after a hazing incident. No one has been charged in that case, but band Director Julian White was suspended and the board of trustees voted last week to reprimand the university president.
Sean Hobson, 23, and Aaron Golson, 19, have been charged with aggravated battery and hazing, while James Harris, 22, was charged only with hazing.
Hunter said she was punished for lying about her reasons for missing a meeting of the Red Dawg Order, a group of band members from Georgia.
